The period after a divorce is a time of self reinvention. You can decide the direction of your life and start to move forward toward the goals that you have set for yourself. As time progresses, you might find that you are ready to start dating again. This is a joyous and frightening time for most people.
When you decide to re-enter the dating scene, you will probably feel excited that you are opening this new chapter but you might feel some trepidation because it is all so new to you. One thing to remember at this point in your life is that you have to put yourself first.
Before you try to find someone to make you happy, you have to make sure that you are creating your own happiness. You need to find out what you want out of life and start making that happen on your own. Only then should you take the steps to bring someone else into your journey. In a way, you need to date yourself before you try to date another person.
Once you do start dating, don't let your own interests fall by the wayside. The person who you allow into your life should have goals of their own and it should be easy to bring those goals in with yours. This might help you to find someone who you can enjoy spending time with.
The process to end your marriage is one that isn't going to be easy so make sure you don't try to rush through the aftermath. Taking your time can help you to avoid entering into a rebound relationship that is going to fail.
